Welcome to IRRAS
Founded in 2012 in Sweden, IRRAS is a medical device company focused on fluid control and management for a broad range of brain pathologies, CNS applications and procedures. IRRAS developed and is the manufacturer of outstanding instruments and devices for clinical, monitoring and surgical applications of brain pathology indications called the IRRAflow® CNS System.
Occlusion is history
The incidence rate for intracranial catheter occlusions can reach >30%. The current manual procedures used to remove a blockage risk both contamination and neurological damage and require significant staff time. IRRAflow® has developed an integrated, automated and pressure- controlled bolus infusion system of 0.5 or 1.0cc which prevents the catheter from occlusion. In addition to this, the physician can also quickly unblock the catheter and rinse the pathology without the risk of contamination by injecting a manual bolus of 0.5, or 1.0cc.
A totally closed system can help prevent infection
The infection of external drainage systems rate can reach > 25%. The majority of published series reported statistically significant higher incidence of external-drainage-related infections in patients with intracranial hemorrhage when compared with patients with nonhemorrhagic pathologies. This has been postulated to be the result of frequent manipulations of the drainage system for flushing a blocked EVD, the infusion of fibrinolytic agents, and the higher chance of drainage positioning reoperation in these subgroups of patients with hemorrhages.
The IRRAflow® system is a completely closed liquid circuit which allows the physician to treat the patient without opening the circuit or manipulating the catheter because of occlusion.
Aspiration and irrigation in once
IRRAflow®’s concentric, double-lumen catheter enables the accurate exchange of fluids and the patented Occlusion Solution System allows for the efficient evacuation of CSF, blood and other pathological fluids.
The irrigation line is used for physiological saline solution but can also be used in the near future for drug delivery to the point of care.
